Ministry

Pastor

Mark has been an ordained minister since 1989 and since then has pastored three churches. Originally ordained within the Uniting Church in Australia, Mark has been an Endorsed Minister of Crosslink Christian Network since 2003, and served on the National Executive from 2009 to 2016.

Since 2003 Mark has served as Pastor and Ministry Team Leader of Peace Christian Community in Redcliffe, Queensland. Initially on a full-time basis, Mark now serves this small but vibrant community on a part-time basis, thus enabling him to devote time and energy to coaching, mentoring and training.

Peace Christian Community (PCC) is affiliated with Crosslink Christian Network. While gathering as a community to worship every Sunday, operates out of a vision to be church wherever life happens; to reflect the indiscriminate love of Christ to people in all spheres of life.

Mark’s ministry has never been restricted to one church community and has regularly offered coaching, mentoring and training to Christians from all backgrounds. He is also extremely valued as a wedding, funeral and infant dedication celebrant. Read more below.

Spiritual Mentoring & Discipleship Coaching

One of the many verses of Scripture that inspires Mark is Ephesians 1:22-23 which refers to the Church as Christ’s body – the fullness of him who fills all in all. Mark is passionately committed to preaching, teaching and most importantly living this vision of the Church as a Spirit-filled body of believers, called, commissioned and empowered to fill every sphere of creation with the fullness of Jesus. That not only means our churches, but our families, neighbourhoods, workplaces, community groups, etc.

As such, for many years mark has been sort after as a discipleship coach and mentor, supporting people in integrating their faith into their family and work life. Mark believes that every follower of Jesus is called to full-time ministry.  For some this is within the Church, but for most this full-time ministry is served through their chosen career.

Mark’s extensive study and training in theology and ministry along with his training and broad experience in coaching, provides a rich combination of resources and insights in seeing our work as calling and ministry.

Mark is also available to lead workshops in local churches and ministry settings.  Workshop topics include:

  • Your Work as Ministry
  • Holy Spirit Equipping Laboratory
  • Kingdom Living Equipping Laboratory

Celebrant

Mark is a registered “Religious” Marriage Celebrant. However this does not mean that the services in which he officiates are “religious” in the sense of lots of ritual and formality. Mark is sort after by couples who are not actively worshiping in any church, but would like their weeding ceremony to reflect God’s love and grace, without it being “preached at” or full or church ritual or jargon which can make people feel uncomfortable.  Mark works with couples to ensure the content of their ceremony reflects their unique personal qualities, ensuring the ceremony is warm, engaging and joyful.

Similarly, Mark is highly regarded for officiating at funeral services which celebrate the lives of people with warmth, dignity and sensitivity, commending departed loved ones into God’s hands without being “religious”.

Mark has officiated at hundreds of weddings, funeral and infant dedications (christenings), a ministry which brings him great joy and fulfillment.

Marriage Preparation & Relationship Coaching

For 27 years Mark has been a trained Facilitator of PREPARE/ENRICH, the leading relationship assessment and skills-building program used nationally and internationally, built on a solid research foundation and proven to significantly improve a couple’s relationship. Combined with his coach training and experience, Mark is highly skilled as a relationship coach, and has served couples preparing for marriage and those in long-term committed relationships who are either experiencing difficulties or are doing well and want to experience an even greater dimension of joy and fulfillment within their relationship.
